Before reviewing Honest-1, I want to give you an idea of who I am as a car owner. I think of myself as reasonable but slightly neglecting when it comes to keeping my car running. I'll get regular oil/filter changes and check fluids/air here and there, but I don't do a ton of preventative maintenance outside of brake replacements and whatever it takes to pass inspections. Also, I use to work at a car parts store so I have decent knowledge about parts, what they generally cost, how important they are, and what it might take to replace them. But I'm no mechanic, just average novice with some expertise. Anyhow, I needed to get an oil change (that I was about two weeks behind on) and since I was in the North Richland Hills/Hurst area I thought I'd give one of the several places on Grapevine Hwy a try. I looked up reviews and knew that Honest-1 seemed to get more highly reviewed than most around but I had a small concern since there was a high number of 5 star reviews from users with only 1 review. The reviews didn't seem fake, but things like that raise alarms for me. Anyhow, I figured that since this was a simple oil change I thought I'd give them a try and see how I felt. I won't go into too many details because I don't want people to think that they'll be given the same price for an oil change (prices can vary from vehicle to vehicle), but I will say that it was in line with prices from other oil change places I've been to and more than fair to me considering that a oil change for my little compact car at a dealership is over $100. 😲 Their lobby was really nice (almost coffee house like) with electrical outlets on the tables, a little play area for kids, and maybe free snacks/drinks (I didn't take any, but they were out there to grab). The staff was friendly almost to the point that I was worried about what I had gotten myself into, but in the end they were just trying to be helpful and not trying to aggressively sell me a million services (though they suggested a bunch of them). And the only thing that I felt was exaggerated about to me was one of the staff members telling me that it was difficult to change my in-cabin air filter (it's behind my glove box and takes me like 3 minutes to replace), but this was front-end staff and I think they were just going by the estimated time plus they hadn't seen my car so I can't really hold this against them. After settling the bill, I got in my car and found a little snack/note waiting for me (see picture), which was a nice treat. So far I feel comfortable about going back and while I haven't had extensive repairs done here yet I would say that it's worth a look if you're in need of some car maintenance/repairs (and this is coming from someone with more than 1 review so I'd like to think that you'll find this review a little more trustworthy).
Dear Russell, Thanks for the great feedback. We went back and reviewed your invoice. The Mitchell labor guide lists .6 hours for your vehicle's cabin filter which is a little more than usual. We took the opportunity to re-evaluate and make some common sense changes to our cabin filters going forward. Thanks for pointing this out to us, as well as the fact that many first time posters/new customers chose to take the time to review us! We are incredibly grateful for all the kind reviews since we took over from the previous business, completely renovated the facilities, and hired all new staff in April of 2018. We look forward to seeing you in the future. - Christopher and Martin Collings, Owners at Honest-1 Auto Care North Richland Hills
